I enjoyed the film Free To Play because it showed me a side of gaming that I didn't know existed. I knew that people were obsessive and treated gaming as a profession, but I never actually thought it could grow to be that intense of a hobby. Gaming is within an entirely different field than televised sports and therefore I can't say which is or will become more popular. Sports have their fan base as does gaming.
With the rise in technology, I can assume that gaming will grow as the games become more and more advanced. I feel like anything relating to technology has limitless possibilities for the future. For all we know, games may became entirely interactive. I can just imagine 20 years down the road, that gaming will be like the James Cameron movie, Avatar. It is an exciting yet concerning thought at the same time. People have already become attached and obsessed with living in a virtual world, that if video games become more and more lifelike, people could begin to lose grips on reality. If people begin to like their virtual life better than real life, it poses as a huge concern for the future of gaming.
